The parang machete is a perfect bushman’s tool.
The parang style machete is based on the popular tool from the Malaysian archipelago. Its blade shape has been created to deal with the typical vegetation of South East Asia which tends to be woodier than that found in South America. The parang is shaped to be optimized for a stronger chopping action with a heavier blade and a "sweet spot" further forward of the handle; the blade has a more obtusely bevelled edge to help prevent it from binding in the cut when working on green vegetation.
The parang has three different edges: the front is very sharp and used for skinning, the middle is wider and used for chopping, and the back end (near the handle) is very fine and used for carving. The handle is contoured to fit firmly in the hand and also features a lanyard hole to help to secure to your wrist.
